Since 2024, nature-loving local residents have been working in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) Council to create a wildlife haven in a new community nature reserve in Charlcombe Valley, Bath. The two fields that make up the reserve are owned by B&NES.
We've already identified over 230 different species living in the reserve, including butterflies, damselflies and dragonflies, reptiles and amphibians, along with a variety of birds and mammals. It's also home to a wide range of wildflowers, mosses, lichens and other special plants.
Visit the reserve, find out more about our upcoming events or join our friendly team as a volunteer.

The Friends of Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve is working in partnership with B&NES council, to deliver a long term plan to improve the habitats found at this special place on the edge of Bath.
The small, but beautifully-formed 16-acre nature reserve has two fields, Great Park and Mudcombe. They include grassland, hedgerows, woodland and springs. Enjoy incredible views across the valley to the historic village of Charlcombe, home to St Mary's, the oldest church in Bath.
Our friendly team of volunteers have been working hard in the first year to increase access to nature and the reserve for local residents, installing a new kissing gate on Charlcombe Way to improve accessibility and clearing overgrown scrub and brambles to increase species diversity across the site.
